100% Disabled Veterans Sales Tax Exemption Expanded
As a result of Senate Bill 46 the sales tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans has been expanded to include sales to the surviving spouse of a deceased qualified veteran, if the surviving spouse has not remarried. Sales qualifying for exemption are limited to $1,000 per year for a qualifying surviving spouse.
Applicants for the exemption must obtain a qualification letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The VA may be reached at 1-800-827-1000. The letter should state the applicant is the unremarried surviving spouse of a deceased veteran who was determined to be honorably discharged, 100% service-connected, permanent and total disabled by the VA prior to his/her death.
After receiving the qualifying letter, applicants should submit the letter to the Oklahoma Tax Commission Taxpayer Assistance Division by mail to the following address:

PO Box 26920
Oklahoma City OK 73126
Letters may also be submitted by fax to 405-521-3826.
